CLOSE BUT JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH. NEXT YEAR WILL RISE AGAIN

It was a physical contest from the opening bounce and neither team held back in which was a fantastic final. The hornets could have come away winners in this game, but it just didn't happen for the brown and golds. The panthers bigger bodies and experienced just took control of the contest. 16 goals to 6 in the 2nd and 4th qtr cost the hornets in the end and a lot un disciplined acts. 50 meter penalties and stupid free kicks all over the ground just compounded the misery in the end. Full credit to morningside though. Their midfield got on top and won the clearences quite easily. Gough was instrumental in them winning that battle and Lillico was having a field day around the ground with the help of Shelton. Aspleys kids were fantastic again, Ives might just get drafted. He performance on sunday was pretty good and I wish him well for the future. In the last it was all one way traffic. Uncle fester as his affectionately known by me. Put the game away in a 5 minute burst and put the panther through to the semi final against the suns at metricon stadium. The hornets should be proud of what they have done this season. They started the season 0 and 3 and looking for answers. They will be a force next season and they will be up there all season long

WE GOT FINALS AND IT'S THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR

The best time of the year is about to start and what a first week of the finals we have install. The aspley hornets fell in just about after an 8 goal win over the vultures and a win by the panther over broadbeach and a southport win over redlands. But once you're in anything can happen and too be honest they can knock the reigning premiers out of the finals without a whimper tomorrow. In their 2 meetings this year the ledger is even and if it wasn't for a blinding last qtr by fester mugavin, the hornets might be playing a home final. But they aren't. The first meeting the hornets shut the panthers midfield drive and kept kent abey out of the game, he hardly had a touch all day and bushy Copeland will more than likely get him again tomorrow and he will need to do a job on him again. The panthers have winners across the park. They do miss the run of Nathan kinch who is out with a cut to his arm. Damien Bonney will no doubt be at his niggling best tomorrow. The conditions are going to play a big part tomorrow I feel. The panthers ground can chop up up easily and turn into a bog. Whoever can combat the conditions and play well in them, could win and win well. It's going to be a cracking game of footy and whoever wins this game. Could see themselves playing in a prelim final. No one really knows what the suns are going to put up in the finals and I expect them to tank and go out in straight sets. I reckon the hornets will get up in a tight game of footy

SUDDEN DEATH TO THE END. NO EYE GOUGING OR BITING OR RABBIT PUNCHES

Northside rivals are at it again and it's going to be a massive battle at lemke road. Both teams are struggling to field a side with injuries starting to stack up on both sides. The gorillas have limped into the finals too be honest and they have been struggling to get the mojo back since their first bye of the season. Their last 8 games have been patchy to be nice. Games they should have won by cricket scores, they only just got over the line in them. In their first 8 games of the season, everything seemed to just click. Players like Skuse have to get back to their best footy and they certainly have gone a bit quiet of late. Maybe it's the opposition that has been doing their homework on him or he has just lost his form. He can win a game off his own back and if he is on tomorrow he can have a day out and the gorillas can and might just win this game. If matty pardew can keep up his form of late sand will struggle to win this game. Sandget will be missing a few of their guns in forbes with a mirroiad of injuries as usual and fabian with an arm injury. So their stocks will be tested. With nuss and dickfos back, they are such a strong outfit and those 2 are the danger men for the hawks. Grange need to keep them quiet in this one to have any chance of winning this battle. Last time these 2 met, grange looked the goods for 2 and half quarters. But they literally stopped and sandgate ran away with the four points. I reckon this is going to be a ding dong battle and I think the gorillas will survive to last another day

SHIT WHAT A WAY TO FINISH OFF THE HOME AND AWAY SEASON

So we have finally reached the end of the home and away season of the premier division in aflq. What a season it has been and a very tight race right to the end of the season. The ramifications going into this round are huge for all teams in the 5. the positions in the 5 we have now could all change by 6 o'clock tomorrow night. There are some shit games on and one or 2 really good games, so the scenarios are

Noosa first 48 points and a percentage of 177.18. so for them to finish on top it's pretty simple. Beat mayne and the top spot and a home final and week off is theirs. If they lose and it's very unlikely to happen. They could finish fourth if things go the other way. But is unlikely to happen

western magpies second 48 points and a percentage of 140.73. they can finish on top if noosa lose to mayne and they can finish as low as 5th if they lose to cooly and other results go against them and too be honest they could lose to cooly

sandgate 3rd 48 points with a percentage of 137.36. this side certainly has the bye at the wrong time of year, but I suppose it would be good just to rest the bodies up. They have to sit and wait and see what happens tomorrow. They need everyone to lose to get top spot or a top 3 spot on the ladder but that is very unlikely.

Wilston Grange 4th 48 points with a percentage of 135.44. their destiny is in their own hands as they cliche goes. If they win and results go their way. They can finish either on top or second. But most likely to finish 3rd and get the double chance. If they lose and palm beach win. They will finish fourth and fave an away elimination final against sandgate

Palm beach 5th 44 points and a percentage of 167.44. so this mob that everyone hates still have a chance of finishing on top if everything goes their way. They need the top 3 to lose and if they win they will finish on top. The way they have been playing the last 3 months, it's a big chance this mob will win tomorrow and win big. So the rest will be up to the other teams to snatch that top spot. They most likely to finish in 4th spot and get a home final. Because their percentage is far greater than sandgate

so as you can all see the stakes are high for the top 5 teams in the premier division. Gee what a final round of footy and the finals will be a cracking time I feel
