As the saying goes in football and sports and life in general to be honest. Confidence is everything. Right now southports confidence is at what you would call a low point in the footy history. They have lost 3 of their 4 games and have looked very ordinary in 3 of those losses with 1 of those games having a scoreless quarter in one of them. If they win this weekend, it would certainly give them a boost in confidence and that is for sure, but they are coming up against a team that is full of confidence. It will be an extremely tough test for the sharks even at shark park this weekend, but they have so many quality footballers to pull it off and boy do they need a win like this to give their season a good kick start. Aspleys confidence was certainly given a boost last saturday after a hard fought win against labrador in the mud at home. The reasons behind a solid 4 quarter effort was due in part to them no giving away stupid 50 meter penalties and dumb free kicks. In their first 3 games they were doing exactly the opposite to that and it cost them every time just like last season. If they can keep up the good work of what they did on staurday they can still make a run for the finals. Both of these teams aren't out of the finals race just yet, but they will both need to go on a tear to make the finals at some stage I feel and it might start now
at the other end of the confidence scale is the thunder and their confidence would be sky high at the moment. They have been playing some spectacular footy and their 4 wins so far have been comprehensive. Ewing is kicking plenty of goals and they are being well lead by Cameron Illet. This week they face a team that is searchibng for answers and they could really bury them and make their finals hopes slim this ealry. They have struggled away from home and last season showed that and it cost them deerly in the end. But they have already won away from home, by thumping a strong broadbeach out at broadbeach and that will give them some confidence going into this weeks game at soutport.
This new league is wide open and anyone can win from here on end and it should be a great season
