A GOOD HARD PHYSICAL CONTEST

Character was needed and character was shown yesterday by the hornets in mud bath at graham road. They showed a lot hardness at the footy all day and coped plenty of hard knocks a long the way from from an undisciplined labrador outfit. Labrador I think are a good side but when they are getting beaten they can easily be sucked into going the cheap shot and sniping and that what happened on saturday. There was a few incident that might have caught the eye of the match review panel and those players will be in a bit of strife to say the least. Aspley lead for most of the day and it was the 3 players that lead all day in all their wins last year and did so on staurday as well. Matt Shir in my eyes was clearly best on ground and he was in everything. He is a class footballer and when he has a day out, he carves sides up with ease. Recce toye went into the game under an injury cloud and he had another blinder in an under packs and was brilliant all day. Dan roy had another classy game and this bloke collect possies at will. For most of the game labrador would always answer back after a coouple of quick goals by aspley. But after they got with in 5 points in the last and aspley pushed the margin back out to 3 goals. They were shot and asoley ran out 5 goal winners. The new players are starting to play some good footy as well. The disappointing thing to come out of the game for the hornets was the loss of 2 key players to injury. Both look like they will miss a few week. Ryan Davey was clearly labradors best player but he might come under scrutiny from the mrp as well with a late hit in the first quarter
